What is Camp BADX?
Camp BADX is a camp
run and organised by the Barking & Dagenham District Explorers. The Camp
BADX committee (consisting of Jamie Saunders, Jason Morris, Max Juffs
and Daniel Warrington) organise, book and run the camp which takes place
during the October half term. The Explorer leaders oversee everything we
do and ensure that all the correct procedures are followed.
Who's going?
This year, Camp
BADX '08 is open to all Explorers within Barking and Dagenham and all
Scout aged 13+ at the time of the camp within Barking and Dagenham. This
years camp is a special one because it will be the first Explorer run
camp within the district to take Scouts away with them. We hope that by
bringing Scout along to the Explorer camp, it will show Scouts just what
Explorers is all about and get more Scouts joining the BAD Explorers.
Camp
leaders/leader going
This year, Jamie
Saunders will be the official camp leader but Jason Morris, Max Juffs
and Daniel Warrington, along with Jamie, will be running the camp.
Explorer leaders and Network members will be the leaders attending Camp
BADX '08. Numbers of network/leaders to be confirmed.
Can
Scouts/Explorers/Network/Leaders
bring / buy / acquire / consume alcohol?
No. We have received new guidance in
May 2006 that the Scout Associations policy has changed and no alcohol
should be consumed by those under the age of 18. This guidance replaces
all previous guidance and parental consent forms that may have been in
place in the past.
There will be a strict no alcohol policy at Camp BADX and anyone found with alcohol will be sent home immediately.
Can
Scouts/Explorers/Network/Leaders
bring / buy / acquire / smoke cigarettes?
No. There will be a
strict no smoking policy at Camp BADX and anyone found with cigarettes
will have them taken off of them and their parents and leaders informed.
Can I come down to the
camp?
We would prefer
that you did not attend the camp so that the Scouts can see Explorer
life without being reminded that they are a Scout. After all, they will
be treated like an Explorer at the camp. However, if you feel that you
would like to visit Camp BADX '08, please contact Jamie Saunders and he
will discuss with you the possibilities of you visiting the camp.
When do the
forms/deposits need to be in by?
All forms and
deposits (non-refundable) need to be handed in to Jamie Saunders/Max
Juffs before July 18th. We would ask that your Scouts return your forms
no less than 2 weeks after receiving them and you deposit as soon as
they have it.
This is because there is limited places at Camp BADX and the deciding factor will be on a first come first served basis. The Scout's deposit will secure them a place on Camp BADX.
Camp contact details
At any time during the
camp, the camp leader (Jamie Saunders) will be able to be contacted on his
mobile. This number will be given to all Scout leaders whose Scouts are attending
Camp BADX.
