HMS Belfast - September 2008

HMS Belfast

On the 12th September the 10th/18th, 19th and 1st went to stay on HMS Belfast for one night. We slept on the bunks that the sailors used during the war. We went to get KFC and bought it back to the ship and ate it while we watched Mr Bean's Holiday. I was very creepy sleeping on the ship as of the smell and noises the ship made. King Louie came and frightened all the girls during the night. The next day we had a nice breakfast. After we had an educational talk which was very interesting and Chloe and Andrew dressed up as sailors. We all got put into groups and walked around the ship. We saw the gun turrets and the engine room. The manikins were very freaky. For lunch we went to McDonalds, we went back to the ship, had our last look around and then went home. I really enjoyed the 2 days and cant wait to go again.

The Scouts went on the HMS Belfast for one night. HMS Belfast was also a war ship and we slept on the beds that the men slept on. On the HMS Belfast we watched a DVD of Mr Bean's Holiday and George brought some cheesy balls in an George, Chloe, Cameron and me (Stephanie) ate all of them! All the girls on the HMS Belfast ate KFC whilst we were in bed and drunk out of a big bottle. There was lots of dummies and they scared me (Stephanie) and Chloe. The boat stunk a lot from the heating. Whilst we were in bed Emily had a spider in her bed and she shouted "King Lo! King Lo!". It was so funny. I was also scared because I'm terrified of spiders and I hate them! The leaders and Chloe and Andrew had to dress up as people that were on the ship in the World War 2. The clothes were massive on them.

We met up at Barking station (the 19th, 1st & 10th/18th). There was just over 30 us making the trip to HMS Belfast. Upon arrival we were shown to the bunk rooms to stow our kit, then it was of to KFC for dinner. Once back on board everyone got ready for bed and settled down to watch a DVD (Mr Bean) until lights out. I think the chatting finally stopped around 1 or 2 am. On Saturday we all had to get up nice and early for breakfast in the ships galley, then store our kit before going to the education room for a chat & a film on the history of the ship. We then split up in to smaller groups to explore the ship. Everyone enjoyed looking round the ship, from the bridge to the engine room. We mustered on the deck at 1 pm to go for lunch then to the shop for some souvenirs, back on board one last look round then at around 4 pm it was time to leave for home. All in all every one had a fantastic time on board
